A Beautiful Mind is a biographical film about John Nash, a mathematician who won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1994. Nash developed the mathematical foundation of Game Theory, a subdomain of mathematics that models how people behave with one another in situations where people have competing or conflicting goals. 

A Beautiful Mind stars Russel Crowe who played John. It won four Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress. It is directed by Ron Howard and produced by Universal Pictures in 2001

  Hypatia (335 – 405 AD) is the first renowned woman mathematician whose life and times are fully documented. She is a philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician based in Alexandria, Egypt whose prestige was respected in even by the Holy Roman Empire even though she was not a Christian. She died tragically her body torn to pieces by a demented mob.  Her life and tragic death are told in the movie Agora, produced by Telecinco Cinema and released in 2009.
